Benefits of Worshipping Goddess Varahi and Its Mantra

Who is Goddess Varahi?

Varahi Devi symbolises Shakti, the divine feminine power that protects the Universe. Shakti embodies strength, energy, creation, and protection. Varahi Amman, one of the Saptamatrikas, represents the power of Lord Varaha, Vishnu's third incarnation. She serves as commander-in-chief of Lalitha Tripura Sundari's army.

“Varahi” means ‘boar’, derived from “Varaha.” She is fifth among the Saptamatrikas, called ‘Panchami.’

Varahi Amman, the female counterpart of Varaha, is the regent of the northern direction. Hindus, including Shaivas, Vaishnavas and Shakta, revere this female energy. Traditionally, Varahi Devi is worshipped at night using secretive tantric practices. Barahi (Nepal), Vajravarahi and Marichi (Buddhism) are believed to be forms of the Goddess Varahi.
